Lillie Mae Smith

November 29, 1931 — October 11, 2020

Our beloved mother Lillie Mae Smith, age 88, entered into her eternal home on Sunday, October 11, 2020, after an extended period of declining health. Lille was born on November 29, 1931 daughter of the late Jesse and Mary Pressley. She is also preceded in death by her treasured husband Harold Smith, daughter Karen Hinkel, two son- in-laws; Bill Eudy and Larry Medlin,and granddaughter Alyssa Smith. Lillie was predeceased by her treasured husband Harold Smith, parents, siblings, daughter Karen Hinkel, and granddaughter Alyssa Smith. Lillie dedicated her life to serving the ones she loved. She enjoyed fishing, birdwatching, cooking, traveling, and watching hunting shows. However, her greatest joys came from spending time with her family and creating lasting family traditions. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Linda Medlin, Debra Easley and husband Michael, Richard Laney and wife Danielle, Kathy Jones and husband Donald, Kay Eudy, Norman Smith and wife Bonnie, Cheryl Dickerson and husband Duane, and numerous beloved grandchildren. Also, Lillie’s siblings, Lou Grady and husband Ralph and Magalene Helms. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory. A greeting of family and friends will be held at 2:00 P.M., followed by the service at 4:00 P.M. The family asks that those in attendance please practice social distancing guidelines and wear a face covering for protection. The family wishes to thank Hospice for their compassionate care during Lillie’s illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 2518 Lancaster Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112 or Secrest Grove Baptist Church, 4505 Weddington Road, Monroe, NC 28110. This is a fitting tribute to Lillie’s love and appreciation for the kindness and care shown by both Eddie Price and Jeff Whitecotton.
