Linda Sue Goodman

Linda Wright Goodman, 71, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on December 13, 2023. Linda was born on February 19, 1952, to Theodore Alexander Wright and Ida Pauline Wright. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Teddy Lee Wright. Linda is survived by her loving husband Robert Philip Goodman, her daughter Melanie Goodman Deal (Travis), her granddaughters Morgan Carhart (Kyle) and Casey Deal, and her sister Evelyn Wright, and her brother Allen Wright.

Linda was born in Wise County, VA, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Her family later moved to Portsmouth, VA, where Linda graduated as the class of 1970 valedictorian from Cradock High School.

Though Linda spent most of her professional career in the accounting field, it was her second career that truly ignited her passion. She was an award-winning Storyteller, Playwright, and Author, focusing on tales about her life and Appalachian culture. Linda's creativity and talent shone through in her storytelling, captivating audiences around the country with her words.

Linda was known for her selfless nature, always putting others before herself. She was a kind and generous person, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Linda approached life with a serious and focused mindset, dedicated to her craft and always striving for excellence. Her creativity knew no bounds, and she was admired for her artistic abilities.

Linda was a beloved member of the Walkersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Waxhaw, NC, where she found solace and strength. Her faith played an important role in her life, and she found comfort in her community of worship.

Most importantly, Linda was a dedicated wife, mother, sister and friend. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and soul. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her legacy as a talented storyteller and caring individual will live on in the hearts of those whose lives she touched.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on January 13, 2024, at Walkersville Evangelical Presbyterian Church, located at 6204 Brady Rd, Waxhaw, NC 28173.

In memory of Linda and in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the following charitable organizations: The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, The Lewy Body Dementia Association, and The Alzheimer's Association. These organizations were close to Linda's heart, and donations made in her honor will support important research and provide assistance to those affected by these conditions.
