Linda Jean (Helms) Laney

Linda Jean Helms Laney, 70, of Monroe, NC, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018. She was born May 16, 1948 in Union County to the late Wriston “Pete” and Jean Connell Helms. Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Secrest Grove Baptist Church, 4505 Weddington Road, Monroe NC 28110, burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Gordon Funeral Service 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe NC 28112. Linda was survived by her loving husband Donie Laney and two sons, Chris Laney (Kim) and Jamie Laney (Shanda) both of Monroe, two sisters, Nancy Adcock of Monroe, Kathy Allen of Indian Trial, and five grandchildren, Kiersten Laney, Drew Laney, Jaxen Laney, Griffin Laney and Tatelyn Laney, all of Monroe. Linda was a devoted loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved her family and spending time together. Lifetime member of Secrest Grove Baptist Church. She loved to sing in a quartet with her sisters and Bud Helms. She faithfully played the organ in church for Sunday services. She loved her church and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
