Llane Love Greene

Deloris Llane Love Greene, 92, of Monroe, NC passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021. She was born in Union County on November 18, 1928, daughter to the late James Duncan Love and Louretta Hinson Love. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Hampton Greene, granddaughter, Kisha Greene Tarleton and her siblings, Audie Haigler, Grace Deese, J.D. Love and Orin Love. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110. The family will visit following the graveside. Mrs. Greene will lie in state prior to the service from 1:00PM until 1:45PM in the church sanctuary. She was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church. She and her husband founded Greene’s Grocery in 1961 and operated it for many years. Llane was the first woman to become a Volunteer Firefighter in Union County. Llane is survived by her three sons, Rodney Greene, wife, Cathy Hannah Greene; Stuart Greene, wife, Robin Secrest Greene; Clark Greene, wife, Sonya Helms Greene; seven grandchildren, Rodney Greene Jr., wife, Regina; Sherry Greene, Jason Greene, Nicole Greene Blackwelder, husband Ryan; Amber Austin, husband Jamie; Ashley Moore, husband Matt; Kasie Brantley, husband Tate; twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, brother George Love, wife Polly; as well as many nieces and nephews.
