Lois Grant

Lois Riggins Grant passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021, with her son Gary by her side. Serving her Lord and her family were her top priorities. She was a very devoted pastor’s wife and a most dedicated and loving Mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Many will fondly remember her as a gracious host and an outstanding Southern cook. Music, gardening and canning, volunteering, yardwork, holidays, and serving as a caregiver all brought her a great deal of joy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Reverend John A. Grant; parents Baxter and Alma Riggins; sister Elizabeth “Lib” Mangum; and half-siblings Odessa “Duck” Baker, Lonnie Riggins and Bruce Riggins. Lois is survived by her only child, John “Gary” Grant of Monroe, NC; her 3 grandchildren Andrew John “Drew” Grant of Los Angeles, CA, Walker Moore Grant and his fiancé Stephenie Seger of Charlotte, NC, and Sara Catherine Boyd and her husband Jordan of Denton, TX; two sisters Martha Rogers Taylor of Wingate and Frances Sell of Matthews plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC on Saturday September 18, 2021, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Faulk’s Baptist Church in Wingate, NC following the service. The family requests memorials be made to the following organizations: Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Park Rd.
