Lois Esther Simpson

God called Lois Gordon Simpson home on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. She was born on April 28, 1932, in Jefferson, SC., daughter of the late Plummer James Gordon and Connie Watkins Gordon. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. Marrying the love of her life, Bobby Sam Simpson, on April 4, 1953. They lived most of their 61 years together in the New Salem Community. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed substitute teaching for Union County Public Schools. She loved sewing, making clothes and quilts. Lois took pleasure in flowers and gardening. She loved to share her fresh vegetables with family and friends. In her later years it brought great joy when family and friends would visit. She will always be remembered for her beautiful red hair and her vibrant personality. She always told us when we talked, she loved us. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Lakeland Memorial Park. During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Simpson Family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112 earlier in the day from 11:00am until 1:30pm for you to pay your respects. At other times the children will receive friends in their own homes. She joins in worship of our Lord and Savior her beloved husband Bobby Sam Simpson, her brothers; Joe, Ralph, Frank and Grover Gordon, sisters; Johnnie Stackleather, Bonnie Outen and Hazel Price. Left to cherish her memory are her children; Rick Simpson of Monroe, Peggy Simpson Gordon (Eddie) of Polkton, Bobby Simpson (Carol) of Monroe, Randy Simpson (Ana Linda) of Marshville, grandchildren Diana Gordon Gallimore (Bobby) of Lilesville, Samuel Simpson of Ankeny, Iowa, Jacob Gordon of Marshville, Marie Simpson of Spartanburg, SC., Tina Parker of Monroe and Dusty Williams of Monroe, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a brother James Gordon (Frances) of Monroe, two sisters; Kathlene Robinson of Lancaster, SC., and Polly Haigler of Marshville. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Council on Aging in Union County 1401 Skyway Dr, Monroe, NC 28110, or Union County Senior Nutrition Center (Meals on Wheels) 2330 Concord Ave, Monroe, NC 28110.
