Louellen Younts

Mrs. Lou Ellen Secrest Younts of Monroe North Carolina, passed away peacefully Saturday May 20th, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was 77 years of age. Lou Ellen was born September 30th, 1945 in Monroe, NC. She was the daughter of the late Billy Neal Secrest and Mary Hazel Price Secrest. She was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Neal Secrest and his wife Ruth Kindley Secrest and great grandson, Zachary Ryker Younts.


Lou Ellen grew up in Union County on Secrest Shortcut Rd. on her family farm. She graduated from Sun Valley high school in 1963 and attended Queens College where she received an Associates Degree in Business. She retired from Charlotte Mecklenburg Board of Education in 2004, where she worked in accounts payable for 30 years. She was a faithful lifetime member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where her parents attended, and she loved spending time praying for others and worshiping Jesus. She taught bible memory work for many years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, cooking, decorating and taking care of her family. Her mother Hazel, taught her how to be a seamstress. She used this talent to create many keepsake items for her family that they use today, including dresses, aprons, curtains and blankets.


She is survived by her loving husband Richard Edward Younts of 58 years, brothers Ivan Secrest (late wife Rachel) and Lanny Secrest (Jamie), daughter Dawn Younts Hancock (Calvin), son Richard Mark Younts (Tonya), grandchildren Zachary Mark Younts (Ashley), Megan Elizabeth Hancock, Tyler Edward Younts (Amber), William Cole Hancock, Hailey Younts Deason (Zachary) and great grandchildren, Raylyn, Emma, Paisley, Rhett, and Laikyn Younts and her loyal and faithful dog Ginger.


A visitation will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church at 2301 Rocky River Road North, Monroe, NC 28110 on Friday May 26th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. with memorial services following at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be held at a later date for immediate family only.


In Lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, children, youth and missions ministries.
