Lynda Price Williams, 79, of Monroe, passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021 at her home surrounded by family, after a decade long battle with cancer. Born July 25, 1941, Lynda was the daughter of the late Marvin Erastus Price and Mildred Haigler Price. A graduate of Unionville High School, Lynda married her devoted spouse, Tim Williams, on October 7, 1961. Though their early years of marriage and retirement years were spent on their farm in the Unionville community, Tim and Lynda also lived in Whiteville, NC for nearly twenty years. Lynda was an active member of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church in Monroe where she sang in the choir. She also spent many years teaching Sunday School at Mill Creek Baptist Church, Monroe and First Baptist Church of Whiteville, where she also served as church secretary. Lynda is survived by her spouse of nearly 60 years, Robert “Tim” Williams; three children: Lynn (Sam) Lewis of Monroe; Lori (Jagath) Kodikara of Indian Trail; and Jennifer (Paul) Baxley of Athens, GA; nine adoring grandchildren: Samantha, Seth, and Shea Kodikara, John and Maggie Lewis, and Livy, Maria, Matthew and Caroline Baxley; She is also survived by a number of beloved nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and special friends, Judy Johnson of Monroe and Ophelia and Jerry Sellers of Whiteville. Lynda was preceded in death by an infant grandson, William Lewis IV, a son-in-law, Robert Hoerning, a sister, Joyce Stegall, and a brother, Dwight Price. Lynda will be most remembered for her joyful spirit and her beautiful singing voice, which she shared in countless church services, weddings, and funerals through the years. A funeral service to honor Lynda’s life will be held at Benton Heights Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Paul Saleeby, Dr. Roger Gilbert, and Rev. Eddie Price officiating. Burial will follow the service at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the music fund of Benton Heights Presbyterian Church, 2701 Concord Highway, Monroe, NC or the Carolinas Ovarian Cancer Fund at Atrium Health Foundation, 208 East Boulevard, Charlotte, NC 28203. The family would like to offer special gratitude to Dr. David Tait and the staff of the Levine Cancer Center for their loving, attentive care to Lynda over the years.
