Margaret Lee Rushing, 90, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016. She was born May 25, 1925 in Union County, daughter of the late Otto G. and Clyde Byrum Boatright. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Parker and Joe Rushing and children, Gary Parker, Danny Parker and Diane Adams. Ms. Rushing worked as deli supervisor at A P for twenty-five years. In her later years, Ms. Rushing also worked for David Walter Travel Agency, which gave her the opportunity to travel the world with her family, and she did so as often as possible. After retiring, she spent her time fishing, gardening, and enjoying the beach. Ms. Rushing was also a long-standing member at East Baptist Church. To her friends, Margaret was larger than life. She liked big cars, bright jewelry, and sparkly clothes, and had the grace, humor, and class to wear them all well. As far as we know, she never looked bad in a photograph, even when everyone else was a mess. But, she will be most remembered for the love and devotion she demonstrated to her family. Ms. Rushing is survived by her loving daughter, Jackie (Tommy) McGuirt of Wesley Chapel; step-daughter, Denise Vickery (Jim) of Salisbury and grandchildren, Kimberly (Sonny) Simpson of Waxhaw, Chris (Karen) Adams of Monroe, Falon Parker and fiancé John Spencer of Huntersville; great-grandchildren, Michaela Simpson of Waxhaw, Parker Adams and Riley Adams, both of Monroe.
