Margaret Marie Rushing

Monroe, NC Margaret Marie Rushing, 82, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011, after a long battle with brain cancer at Hospice of Union County in Monroe, NC. She was born on June 6, 1928 in Union County daughter of the late Lonnie and Margaret Hargette Watkins. Mrs. Rushing was a retired employee with the Union County School system. She was the wife of the late Thomas Harold Rushing. Marie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Marie was a Christian who dedicated her life in the church and caring for others. She will be missed dearly by her family. She is survived by her two sons, Dennis Harold Rushing and wife Sheri of Monroe, Timothy Lynn Rushing and daughter, Margaret Elaine Sprinkle and husband William of Winston Salem. She had four grandchildren, Tiffany Morse and husband Scott of Indian Trail, Scott Rushing of Monroe, Tommy Sprinkle and wife Jennifer of Winston Salem, Matt Sprinkle and wife Holly of Gainesville, Florida. She also leaves five great grandchildren and sisters, Irene Price, Jean Godfrey and brothers, Bill and Richard Watkins. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 2:00 PM at New Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
