Obituary

Margie Gordon, 73, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025. She was born on January 18, 1952, in Charlotte, NC.

Margie was a homemaker who had many hobbies including crafting, sewing, traveling, thrifting, gardening, canning, and cooking for her family. Her favorite hobby of all was collecting beautiful seashells while spending time with her family at Ocean Isle Beach. She had a love for music, including singing in the FBCIT choir. Margie was a talented organist, playing in over 100 weddings and for several churches over the years. She was a dedicated FBCIT church member and active in her life group. She enjoyed sending hand-written cards to encourage others.

Margie is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Larry Neil Gordon: two daughters; Leslie (Matt) Reynolds and Shelley (Casey) Cochrane. She was the proud “Mamaw” of four grandchildren: Lilly Reynolds, Ben Reynolds, Tanner Cochrane and Bryson Cochrane. In addition, Margie is survived by her brother; Howard (Marietta) Preslar. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Louise Preslar.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:45AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at First Baptist Church-Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC. Following the visitation, the service to celebrate Margie’s life will begin at 12:00PM. Burial will be at Forest Lawn East Cemetery after the service.

The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at Levine Cancer Institute Hematology Unit for their intentional, loving care over the past 2.5 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Waypoint Church, an FBCIT church plant in Brunswick County, NC, in memory of Margie’s love for the beach and her commitment to the local church. Checks can be made out to FBCIT with a note designated to Waypoint Church-Gordon Memorial, and mailed to P.O.
