Marie Smith Demarest

Marie Demarest, 91 of Waxhaw, NC passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2024. She was born on January 24th, 1933 to the late John and Hazel Smith in Patterson, New Jersey.

Marie was an active member of her church St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Monroe, North Carolina. If you did not see her before church making coffee you would find her in the back pew handing out mints. She loved to sew and knit. In her years she had made over 100 baby blankets and sweater sets for anyone she knew.

She is predeceased by her sister Ruth Metzler; her brother, William “Sonny” Smith; and her daughter, Theresa Kiko.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Albert) Alfaro of Plant City, FL, Jack (Karen) Demarest of Tobyhanna, PA, Bruce (Pam) Demarest of Monroe, NC, and Deborah (Bob) Swartz of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren Tina (David) Johnson of Lakeland FL, Micheal (Nikki) Alfaro of Waxhaw, NC, Rosa (Anthony) Veli of Oakland, NJ, Chris (Larry) Conti of Haskell, NJ, Ryan (Laura) Demarest of Bloomfield, IN, Kacey (Vance) Gilmore of Sumter, SC, Robert Swartz of Waxhaw, NC, Janis (Daniel) Gillespie of Troutman, NC, Debbie Kiko of Monroe,NC, Nikki Kiko of Rockingham, NC; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and great grandchildren.
