Marilyn Golden Mcauley

November 20, 1930 — May 14, 2024

Marilyn Golden McAuley (A.K.A. Grangie) 93, of Waxhaw, NC, died on May 13, 2024, at her home looking out over the Gramar Farm that she built and shared with the love of her life the Predeceased Henry Grady McAuley Jr for over 40 years. She passed away surrounded by those who loved her the most, in the safety and comfort of the memories acquired and built through a lifetime of acumen and adventure. Marilyn was born in Greenwood, South Carolina to the late Roy Golden and Annie Belle Craft Golden on November 20, 1930.

She graduated from Wareshoals High School in 1947; and completed nursing school in Anderson, South Carolina.

She had many crowning accomplishments and pursued a passionate career as an ER nurse, saving lives and giving the attending doctors a what-for without hesitancy when need be. She did all this whilst loving and raising her 3 children, adorning herself and the halls she graced, and delivering dinners on sterling silver plates. She was the perfect combination of country and class usually wearing diamonds, silk, chiffon, and a little bit of lace.

Whilst the aforementioned were honorable pursuits she spoke of them in hushed tones compared to the pride and passion that shined through her being when speaking of her greatest love and her most precious achievement; that being the day, she found Henry Grady McAuley Jr. along her way. It was a union fated and celebrated in the Stars Made official in February 1952. Their life together was filled with adventure and their passion & principles built and united communities. The resulting clan that was created perpetuated the powerhouse energy they pursued together daily. A life well lived, and a love that all long for, and few are lucky enough to experience.

Marilyn and the late Grady were active members of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, near their home in Waxhaw for over 20 years, serving in several capacities.

She is survived by two sons, Henry Grady McAuley III (Tripp) and his wife Corinne of Anderson, SC, and Michael Roderick McAuley and his wife Becky Lynn, of Waxhaw, NC, and one daughter Pamela Kay McAuley of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She is also survived by 4 Grandchildren Melissa Mae Boggs and Husband, Trey, Kristie Ann McAuley, Laura Ashley Pedigo and Husband, Josh, and Henry Grady McAuley IV (TJ), and wife Haley. and six grandchildren Marilyn Elise Ridings, Presley Boggs, London Boggs, Mcauley Boggs, Camden Pedigo, and Jaxson Wood.
