Dateline: Wesley Chapel, NC Marion Ralph Funderburk, 71, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He was born October 5, 1941 in Lancaster, SC, son of the late Ralph Claude and Eula Mae Funderburk. Marion was a quiet Southern gentleman; a man of gentle spirit, and wisdom that won him a treasure of friends. He was a bass fisherman, a dirt tracker, and loved his role with the Nationwide Series.(Thanks, J. Robinson Racing) and the crew who were truly his brothers. He took great pride in all his work and arts. He loved his family. He adored his blessed wife and leaves us all better people by sharing with us his life. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in Siler Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 12:00 – 1:45 PM prior to the service. Mr. Funderburk is survived by his wife, Debra McGuirt Funderburk; sons, David Marion Funderburk (Tammy) and Michael T. Funderburk (Debra), both of Lancaster, SC; daughter, Leslie Funderburk Wooten (Michael) of Camden, SC; brother, Glenn Thomas Funderburk of Columbia, SC; grandchildren, Holly, Dustee, Michael, Rod, Matthew, Mandi, Bailey and Callie; eleven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Hazel Mangum and the late R.B. Mangum; father-in-law, Phillip McGuirt; sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lee (Iris) Whiteside; nephew and godson, Trey Whiteside; brother-in-law, Rodney McGuirt and godchildren, Kyle, Catlin and Corey Keels. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110 or Siler Presbyterian Church, 6301 Weddington-Monroe Road, Wesley Chapel, NC 28104.
