Marjorie (“Margie”) Linzey Jennette passed away on July 18, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on May 22, 1937, in Greensboro, NC, to Ernest and Alma Linzey. Margie spent most of her childhood in Raleigh and was a proud graduate of Broughton High School and Peace College. In 1956, she went on a blind date with Marshall Jennette, and the two married in 1960. They started their life together in Monroe, later moved to Virginia Beach, then Elizabeth City, and eventually returned to Monroe, where they raised their two children, Marsha and Mark. Later in life, Margie and Marshall moved to Matthews, first to Bella Sara and then to Matthews Glen.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Doris Kenyon. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Marshall Jennette; her daughter, Marsha Tice (Tom); and her son, Mark Jennette (Kim). She loved being Mimi to her grandchildren, Christopher Tice, Allison Vassily (Dylan), Madison Jennette, Landon Jennette, Caison Jennette, and Dante Park. She is also survived by several nieces, a nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many special friends.

Margie was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Monroe, where she stayed active, especially before moving to Matthews. She was one of a kind and never met a stranger, something even her seven-year-old grandson noticed, once asking her why she was always talking to random people. She played bridge her whole life and belonged to several bridge clubs in Monroe, and she brought that same creativity to the many arts and crafts projects she took on over the years. She also loved watching sports. Margie and Marshall also shared a love of, taking trips across the United States and abroad, including cruises to countries throughout Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by all who knew her.
