Marsha Gail Rushing

Marsha Rushing of Marshville, NC passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, August 20, 2022 in Charlotte, NC. Marsha was born in Union County on September 24, 1946, to the late Robert and Violet Hefner Horne. Mrs. Rushing was preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years David M. Rushing. She is survived by her son David M. Rushing, Jr, wife Amanda of Matthews, daughter Tracy Wright of Mooresville and adored grandchildren Jacob Wright, Nathan, and Ava Rushing.

Marsha spent most of her life in Union County. She graduated from Forest Hills High School in 1964. She attended Wingate College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education. Marsha was an educator, having taught at Forest Hills High School and Wingate University. She was active in her community having served a term on the Union County School Board. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed a longtime membership at Rolling Hills Country Club. Marsha was an exceptionally gifted artist. She very proudly accepted membership into the Watercolor Society of North Carolina. Marsha’s artwork has been displayed at numerous museums both locally and abroad. Her works will be treasured by friends and family for generations to come.

A Memorial Service celebrating Marsha’s life will be held on Saturday, August 27th 2022 at 11:00AM at Wingate Baptist Church with visitation following from 12:00pm - 1:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. A graveside service will be held for immediate family at 2:30 at the Marshville Cemetery.
