Martha Geer Perry

Dateline: Monroe, NC Martha Geer Perry, 91, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011. She was born in Greenville, SC on September 16, 1920. A 1941 graduate of Furman University, she married lst Lt. Norris Clifford Perry in February of 1944 and soon after the end of WWII, they moved to Thomasville, NC. She taught school briefly, after which she was employed by the Thomasville Times until her retirement. A member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Monroe, Martha volunteered for her church in addition to several years of volunteer service for the American Red Cross, for Hospice and for a special board of DSS, on which their concentration was the temporary placement of young children. Martha is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Perry Snow of Winston Salem, NC and Patricia Perry Sledge (Townley) of Monroe, NC; three grandsons, Henry Franklin Snow III, Clifford Perry Snow and David Edmundson Keller and one step-granddaughter, Sara Nicole Sledge. Martha’s family and friends will greatly miss her intelligence, her quick wit and the feisty way she dealt with life!
