Marvin L. Little, born October 24, 1927, died quietly at Monroe Manor Rest Home on September 3, 2008. He was the son of the late J. Luther Little and Gertie Whitley Little of Oakboro, NC. Mr. Little is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lavonne Williams Little, who supported him faithfully through an extended illness; his two daughters Janet Covey and husband, Chris Covey of Braselton, GA and Mary Jackson and husband Mack Jackson of Monroe NC; by four grandchildren, Susan Kelly, Cyclone Covey, John Covey, Anne Byrd; by five great grandchildren, Samuel Kelly, Madeleine Kelly, Lindsay Byrd, Nathan Kelly and Atlas Covey; and by his brother Harold Little of Oakboro NC. Mr. Little, a veteran, served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper and aide to General James Gavin. After graduating from Catawba College with a degree in accounting, he spent most of his career as a businessman associated with the auto insurance and finance industries. He was the founder of the Sadisco auto auction chain, which later became Verastar, and was the country’s largest distributor of Chevron wreckers and car carriers. Mr. Little also founded Peach State Bank in metro Atlanta. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Gordon Funeral Service in Monroe. The family will be receiving friends at Mill Creek Baptist Church, Monroe, NC on Thursday, September 4th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 5th also at Mill Creek Baptist Church.
