Mary Alice (Henson) Foster

Mary Alice Henson Foster passed away Monday, September 1, 2014 at Hospice of Union County. She was born in Statesville, NC, to the late Walter G. and Mayce Shuford Henson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Mac Foster, and her brother, W. G. Henson, Jr. She grew up on Mountain Island Lake and graduated from Mount Holly High School and Spencerian Business School for Girls in Charlotte, NC. She retired from Henkel Corporation as supervisor of accounts payable and inventory control. Mary Alice’s favorite pastimes were crocheting beautiful afghans for her family, working in her flower gardens, and spending time at their beach house at Holden Beach, NC. The beach house was her favorite place and she enjoyed walking on the beach, boating, and fishing. She was a member of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, a member of the Women of the Church Morning Glories circle, and a charter member of West Gate Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe NC 28112, with burial to follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM. Mary Alice is survived by her daughter Bridget Boatright (Tommy) of Wesley Chapel, NC, son Stan Foster (Cheryl) of Henderson, NV, and granddaughter Kimberly Brewster (Tom) of Arden, NC.
