Mary Frances Helms

Mary Frances Murray Helms, 91, passed away Friday, May 15, 2020. She was born October 14, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, the oldest child of the late Olin Lindsay and Maude Richards Murray. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, David Alson Helms. and her brother, Charles Murray who both passed away in 2016 During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Helms Family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to stop by Gordon Funeral Service on Sunday, May 17, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM to pay your respects and to avoid crowds. A private family graveside with be held at Lakeland Memorial Park on Monday, May 18, 2020. Ms. Helms was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School and a lifetime member of Mineral Springs United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Komonia Sunday School Class and Fidelis United Methodist Women. She retired from Monroe Hardware Print Shop after 30 years working side by side with David printing the company catalog. She was also a member of Mineral Springs Quilters Group and was involved in respite care with special needs children. She and David also enjoyed activities with the Hornet's Nest Antique Car Club. Frances' kind and gentle spirit will live on in the lives of her family and all those whose lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Hancock; sons, Michael Helms and wife Nancy, Karl Helms and wife Donna and Keith Helms; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Katharine Steele and Dorothy Cook. The Helms family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude to our mother's loving and devoted caregiver, Wanda Westfield. The blessings she brought into our home will always be remembered.
