Obituary

Mary Katherine "Kathi" Myers, 73, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. Born on April 30, 1953, Kathi lived a life devoted to her family, her students, and the people she loved most.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

Kathi was the beloved wife of Henry Myers and a dedicated mother to Chuck (Renee), Jeff (Amanda), and Drew (Lindsey). She was a proud grandmother to Trey, Ava, Parker, Trevor, Hudson, Lyla Grace, and great-grandson Ford.

Kathi is also survived by her sister, Janet Hinson (Nelson), and her nieces, Natalie (Marty) and Haley (Trevor). She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Mary Ann House, and her sister, Harriet House.

Kathi spent 30 years teaching at Marshville Elementary, primarily teaching third grade, positively impacting generations of students.

Above all else, Kathi was devoted to her family. She was a dedicated mother of her three boys and sacrificed to ensure they always had the very best. She never missed a ball game and was known for passionately supporting from the sidelines, never hesitating to share her opinions with referees and, on occasion, even handing out her own yellow or red cards.

In retirement, Kathi discovered a love for billiards, a love mostly driven by the people she spent time with around the pool table. She could be found at Rack’em several nights a week, playing as a contributor to teams competitive enough to earn trips to national tournaments in Las Vegas. Most importantly, the game brought her friendships with people she cared about deeply.

Kathi will be remembered for her loving and loyal support of those she cared about, her sense of humor, and the lasting impact she had on the many that were fortunate enough to know her.
