Mary Rushing Lingle

Monroe, NC Mary Rushing Lingle, 87, of Monroe, N.C. died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center-Union. Mrs. Lingle was born April 6, 1922 in Pageland, SC. Her parents were William David and Wincie Pierce Rushing. She was married in 1951 to John Hughes Lingle in Lancaster, SC. She lived her adult life and raised her family in Monroe, NC. She worked in the insurance offices of Ellen Fitzgerald and Union Memorial Hospitals. In 1986 she retired after 46 years of service. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, she served with the Women of the FPC. She took great joy in her association with the Good Times Group. Mary loved her church and her church family. Mrs. Lingle is survived by three of her four children, Jan Frank Lingle, wife Vivian of Indian Trail, Terri L. Mills, husband, Reggie of Monroe, and Mary Beth Lingle of the home, grandchildren: Donna Lingle Braswell, Chip Lingle, Chris Lingle, Ian Lingle, Jay Mills, John Mills and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hughes Lingle in 1984 and son, John Hughes Lingle, Jr. in 1976 and three sisters: Violet Hargett, Callie Mizell, Clara Foxworth and brother, Johnny Rushing. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe, NC, officiated by Dr. John Wilkerson, Les Everett and Joan Miles. Visitation will follow the service. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Chip Lingle, Chris Lingle, Ian Lingle, Jay Mills, John Mills and grand son-in-law, Tommy Braswell. The family would like to thank the staff of the CCU Unit of Carolinas Medical Center-Union and the Emergency Unit for their conscientious and exceptional care given to our mother during this critical time. The family would like to recognize the cardiologists and the professional staff of Charlotte Cardiology and Mid-Carolina Cardiology for the personalized care given to our family over the years. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Windsor St., Monroe, NC 28112. Gordon Funeral Service is caring for the family of Mrs. Lingle.
