Mattie Alsbrooks Clyburn

Mattie Lee Alsbrooks Clyburn, 87, of Monroe, NC passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024. She was born in Chesterfield County SC, on February 25, 1937 daughter to the late James Alsbrooks and Mary Funderburk Alsbrooks. She is preceded in death by her loving husband James Rush Clyburn and her two brothers, James Franklin Alsbrooks, Haywood Alsbrooks, and sister, Louise Chavis.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 6, 2024, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. She will lie in state prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.

She joined Pleasant Plains Church at an early age. Mattie enjoyed fishing, spending time with her family, and traveling.

Mattie is survived by her sons, R.J. Clyburn (Avis); James Edward Clyburn (Clara); Curtis Clyburn (Rosebud); and Donnel Clyburn; daughters, Linda Mungo; Barbara Ann Clyburn; Lisa Clyburn; Diane Clyburn, and Sandra Clyburn; brother, Leon Ratliff; sister-in-law Peggy Alsbrooks, twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
