Michael Joseph Cody

Michael Joseph Cody, 90, of Monroe, NC passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 23, 1933, the son of the late Francis Aloysious Cody and Mary Hayes Cody. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Lillian (Cichocki) Cody, his daughter, Kathleen (Cody) McManus, and sister, Frances J. Petrino.

Michael relocated his family to North Carlina in 1978 with IMO Transamerica DeLaval where he spent his entire 47-year career in Design Engineering. Michael, better known to many as “Mike” or “Pop Pop” was a man of many stories and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved traveling, especially to the beach, and his daily breakfast at Stacks in Waxhaw.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Friday, April 12, 2024, at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 8015 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28277 with entombment to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Michael will lie in repose in the hour prior to the service in the narthex of the church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 11, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.

Michael is survived by his son, Michael Cody Jr.; daughters, Patricia Cody and Marianne Cody-Pickel (Brandon); son-in-law Harry McManus, his grandchildren, Brandon McManus (Amy) and Ryan McManus (Haleigh), and many nieces and nephews.
