Michael Wilson Griffin

Michael Wilson Griffin MONROE - Michael Wilson Griffin, 63, passed away November 29, 2012. Mike was born March 15, 1949 in Union County, son of the late Zeb Wilson and Ettra Helms Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a graduate of Piedmont High School and Hamilton Business College. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy as a gunner's mate on the U.S.S. Columbus. He was then associated with his father, Zeb's business, Griffin's Nursery and later was a machinist and quality control inspector most recently with Teledyne Allvac. His hobby and passion was gunsmithing. Funeral services will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Unionville Baptist Church, 510 Baucom Road, Monroe, NC. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will visit with friends and relatives Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Mr. Griffin is survived by his wife, Marilyn Gordon Griffin; daughters, Michelle and husband David Neher of Monroe and Monica and husband Matthew Hunter of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Samantha Neher, Abigayle Neher and Maxwell Hunter.
