Michael "Mickey" Simpson

Michael Francis Simpson, “Mickey”, 68, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at his home. Mr. Simpson was born in Union County, NC to the late Frances Paulene Byrum and William Brice Simpson. Mickey graduated from Benton Heights School in Monroe, NC in 1958 and has remained friends with so many of his classmates all through the years. He retired from the Goodyear Tire Rubber Company after 37 years of service. After retiring in 2001, he was associated with Clark Tire of Hickory, NC and Lowe’s Home Improvement of Matthews, NC until his death. Surviving are his wife, Judy Hannah Simpson; son, Timothy Simpson and wife Kim of Chicago, IL; daughter, Jennifer Powell and husband Brad of Matthews, NC. Grandchildren; Celeste and Luke Simpson of Chicago, IL; and an aunt, Joyce Byrum of Matthews, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, L. A. “Bill” Simpson of Monroe, NC. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 5, 2008 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 4, 2008 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
