Michael Ray Smith

Michael Ray Smith, 59, passed away on August 3, 2023. He was born May 7, 1964, in Fulton County, GA son to the late Marvin Eugene Smith & Mary Crosby Lottes.

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cathy M. Smith, two sons, Mat (Washburn) Smith and Kyle Smith, his wife Stacey, one granddaughter Haley Smith, and a brother Brad Smith.

Mike was a simple man. He didn't require a lot to enjoy his life. He was a long haul OTR truck driver, and he loved it. Throughout his career he established some of his most meaningful relationships with others that became more like family. In his free time, which there wasn't much of, Mike enjoyed golfing with his son Kyle and friends; woodworking and crafting custom furniture, a trade he learned from his late step-father, Jerry Lottes; and spending time with his wife Cathy, and their fur babies Jasper and June.

Mike was the life of the party wherever he went. He was always bound to make you crack a smile or even bust out laughing. He had a way of turning even the worst of situations around to make you see the silver lining, or at least help you to understand the situation.

His advice and larger-than-life sense of humor will be missed by those left that knew him best.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 10, 2023, with Military Honors. The family will receive friends following the service at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112.
