Michael Hilton White

April 16, 1954 — February 24, 2023

Michael “Mike” Hilton White, 68, of Mineral Springs, North Carolina, passed away February 24, 2023, at home surrounded by his wife, friends, and family after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, to Hilton and Joan White on April 16th, 1954. He grew up in Muncie, Indiana, with his two sisters and brother.

After high school, he went to Ball State University and later decided to join the United States Navy. He went to boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois, on September 20th, 1973. He attended Basic Electricity and Electronics school and Aviation Electronics Technician “A” school in Millington, Tennessee before reaching his ultimate duty station HT-18 at Naval Air Station, Whiting Field in Milton, Florida. While stationed in Florida, he met Diane, the love of his life where they finished their Naval service together in September,1977.

Over the next couple of years, he and his family found their forever home in Mineral Springs where they raised three children. He finished his education at Central Piedmont Community College and received two degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Over time, he made his mark in the automatic door industry as a design engineer working for Keane Monroe and then Assa Abloy Entrance Systems until October, 2021. He worked in the industry for 43 years and had a passion for designing door systems where his dedication and commitment was clear to all who knew him.

Mike loved his family above all else. He was a devoted husband to Diane and father to Kevin, Carl, and Kimberly. He dedicated his life to his family and the community. If someone needed anything, they could count on Mike to help.

Mike had a love for music that warmed the hearts of many throughout his life. He started playing the guitar at 15 and continued for the rest of his life. Diane bought him a 12-string guitar before they were married which was a prized possession of his and produced countless memories. He loved Tuesday nights, playing music with buddies in the (loft). He lived a full life enjoying camping with Diane, fishing, woodworking, mushroom hunting, singing, and fellowshipping with his church family.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Kimberly Rhetta White, his parents Hilton and Joan White, and his in-laws Brownie and Edie Brown.

Mike is survived by his loving wife Diane Brown White, two sons, Kevin White (Kristin) and Carlton White; brother Brian White (Janet); sisters Yhvonne White and Janean White; two granddaughters Kaia White and Layla White; brother and sister-in-law, Lois and Jeff Hefner and his loyal dog Sawdust.
