Miriam McConnell Jones, 92, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014. Miriam was born in Mecklenburg Co., on January 20, 1922 to the late Ross Orr and Sarah Rankin McConnell. Miriam was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, she was also an avid bridge player for over 40 years. A funeral service will be held Saturday May 17, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 116 S. Church Street, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will visit with family and friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Gardens, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Hwy. Mt. Holly NC, 28120. Miriam is survived by her son Kenneth M. and wife Susan of Monroe; daughter Sarah “Sally” Jones Lee of Murchison, Tx.; 9 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren and a close friend Neal Wallace. In addition to her parents Miriam was preceded in death by her loving husband Kenneth A. Jones. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County 700 W.
