Myra Woody

Myra Armstrong Woody, 81, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born March 31, 1944, in Ashville, NC daughter of the late Roy & Winnie “Polly” Shope Armstrong. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton, NC where she served as organist for over 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Berry Woody,

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Gordon Funeral Service. The family will receive family and friends following the service at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112. A committal service will be held at 1:00 Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1056 Riceville Road, Asheville, NC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

She is preceded in death by a stepson James Woody and survived by a son Stanley Morgan, two daughters, Kerri Mosley (Mike) and Cherri Johnson, two sisters, Becky McFalls (Gary) and Linda Jackson, two stepdaughters, Joanne Oates and Judy Cairo (Michael Simpson), daughter-in-law, Linda Woody, six grandchildren, Mollie Johnson, Benjamin Mosley (Karianna), Kathryn Johnson, Jacob Mosley (Alexandria), Ashley Friedman (Addison) and Justin Woody (Sara).
