Myrtle Phillips Jenkins MONROE - Mrs. Myrtle Phillips Jenkins, 85, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2013. Mrs. Jenkins was born in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Tom C. Phillips and Amy Udora Baucom Phillips. She was a faithful member at Lakeview Baptist Church where she was in the Ruth Sunday School class which was so special to her. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at Lakeview Baptist Church in Monroe with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. There will be a visitation held Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by her three sons; Tony Lee Jenkins (Susan), Christopher Alfred Jenkins (Vickie), and Timothy Dean Jenkins (Lisa), all of Monroe; grandchildren, Crystal Sifford (Ian), Brad Jenkins, Carrie Jenkins, Erin Honneycutt (John), Brittany Moss (Tyler), and Joshua Jenkins; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt Honneycutt, Mason Honneycutt, Olivia Jenkins, Maddox Sifford, and Avery Moss. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Edna Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her loving husband Henry Alfred Jenkins, as well as her brother Charles Phillips. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Lakeview Baptist Church for the benefit of Mason Honneycutt, 4602 Concord Hwy., Monroe, NC 28110.
