Nancy Duncan Brantley, 89, a former longtime resident of Monroe, NC peacefully transitioned and entered Heaven's Gates on Thursday, July 17, 2025 while under hospice care at The Village of Summerville, a South Carolina Presbyterian Community home. She was born in Indian Trail, NC on September 7, 1935, daughter of the late Alfred Jackson Duncan and Bertye Abernathy Duncan. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brother, Jack Dempsey Duncan, infant sister, Peggy Jo Duncan, and devoted husband of 65 years, James Louie Brantley.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, on Wednesday July 23, 2025, in the chapel of Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00AM until 10:45AM at Gordon Funeral Service.
Nancy graduated from Fairview High School where she was a standout athlete in basketball and softball. She also completed business courses through Anson Technical College and the American Banking Institute (ABI).
Nancy had a 42-year rewarding career in banking with American Bank & Trust, United Carolina Bank (UCB), and Branch Banking and Trust (BB&T). She held various positions over the years including teller, branch manager, loan officer and assistant vice president. She also volunteered with several organizations, including Council on Aging and the Board of Elections.
Until her relocation to Charleston, SC in 2016 due to health issues, she was an active member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in Fairview. She treasured her church family, in addition to the bond she shared until the end with her close friends and former banking colleagues.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Shan Brantley, of Charleston, SC, several fur grandbabies, and special niece, Susan Brantley Foster, of Matthews, NC.
Although Nancy will be immensely missed, there is solace in knowing she is now healed, pain-free and at peace.
