Nancy Koepfer Engel

Nancy Koepfer Engel, 86, of Monroe, NC passed away Friday, May 5, 2023. She was born in Swanton, Ohio on May 17, 1936, daughter of Isidore Koepfer and Nettie Kennedy Koepfer.

She is preceded in death by her husband Robert W. Engel, and her siblings Joyce Ann Koepfer and James Isidore Koepfer. Nancy is survived by her three children, Patricia A. Engel, Susan E. Hagarty, and Robert A. Engel, wife Jennifer; all of Monroe, grandchildren, Kristen Hagarty-Waite, husband Bryan of Burlington, NC, Julia Hagarty of Washington, DC, Garrett Engel of Monroe and Grant Engel of Monroe.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, both vegetables and flowers, and was a Master Gardener. Her yard was always full of color and attracted a variety of birds to feed and nest. She always awaited the return of the hummingbirds in the spring and was excited to see the “scouts” return. She loved spending time with her four grandchildren, passing along the family’s recipes and gardening advice, and watching them grow up into wonderful individuals. Nancy was employed by ORO Manufacturing Company and served as the Chief Financial Officer until October, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Union County NC, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd Monroe, 28110 or to Union County Humane Society, 4015 Waxhaw Hwy, Monroe, NC 28112.
