Norman Ronnie Hood

It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Norman (Ronnie) Hood, 81, on Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born in Durham, NC on March 9, 1942, the son of the late Aubrey McClure Hood and Mabel Ellington Hood.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Formerly of Durham, NC, Ronnie and his family moved to Monroe, NC where he loved the beautiful rural countryside, spending his final years among friends and family. He enjoyed sitting by the family pond and pasture, watching wildlife and reflecting on life. Ronnie was always offering up dry wit and “quips” and usually responded to “How are you?” with “Everything's beautiful! Ronnie also enjoyed hand-crafting birdhouses, many of which he gave away.

Ronnie's first job was with Lowes of Durham, NC where he retired after 20 years, earning many sales awards and honors for his hard work and loyalty above the call of duty. He was the owner of Hood Construction Company in Durham, NC.

Ronnie is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Sims Hood, daughters, Christie K. Hood of the home, and Robin Hood Knight (Jeff). He is also survived by sisters Margie H. Gable (Gabe) of Cary, NC, and Linda H. Herring (Rusty) of Durham, NC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ronnie also treasured his canine companion, Suki.
