Olin Sherill Helms

Olin Sherill Helms, 82, of Indian Trail, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018. He was born January 13, 1936 in Union County a son of the late Wade and Faye Huneycutt Helms. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Waldo Helms. Funeral services will be private. Olin built and flew model airplanes, he loved fishing and being at the ocean. He was known for his witty sense of humor that he was not shy of using. He was an inspiration to all who were fortunate to have met him. He loved gardening and had a strawberry patch second to none. He was a world-famous fish fryer. Olin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Arlene Helms, two daughters; Sherry Dove and her husband Jerry of Southport, NC, Kathy Helms and her husband David of Waxhaw, three grandchildren; Andra Browning and her husband C. Dodd of Leland, Sarah Moore and her husband Kevin of Monroe, Katie Helms of Waxhaw, three brothers; Reid Helms, Wade Helms, Jr., Lacy Helms, three sisters; Elizabeth Starnes, Joyce Dillingham, Betty Hunt, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
