Obituary

Olin Johnson "OJ" Simpson, 78, of Monroe, NC passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022. He was born in Union County on February 25, 1943 son to the late Hoyle Jefferson Simpson and Myrtle Marylee Love Simpson. He is also preceded in death by his two brothers Allen Simpson and Joe Simpson, two sisters Peggy Simpson and Violet Medlin.

A private, immediate family, graveside service will be held Saturday, January 8, 2022.

He had a servant’s heart and loved the Lord and his family. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 53 years Linda Trull Simpson, son Jonathan "Andy" Simpson (Reiko), daughter Shannon Blackburn (Bill) four grandchildren Cameron Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, Chandler Blackburn, and Urijah Ching, brother Roger L. Simpson (Sue), sister Helen Price (Joe).

OJ was a lifelong resident of Union County. He served in many capacities over his lifetime. He was a US Navy veteran and a double retiree from Harris Teeter and Union County Public Schools. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church Building Fund @ 4602 Concord Highway Monroe NC 28110.
