Olivia Benton

Olivia Benton, 91, passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015. She was born on February 19, 1924 in Union County, NC daughter of the late Clinton D. Benton, Sr. and Murielle Hinde Benton. Miss Benton was a retired supervisor with the Union County Department of Social Services and was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She is survived by sisters, Joy Shute and Jane Benton, both of Monroe, niece, Amanda Shute Sullivan of Winston Salem, NC, nephews, Randy Shute and wife Peggy of Knoxville, TN, Mark Benton of Gainesville, FL and Joe Shute of Morehead City, NC, great nieces, Jennifer Shute of Morehead City, NC, Laurel Shute of Nesbit, Mississippi, Sarah Shute of Prague, Czech Republic, Emma Sullivan of Winston Salem, NC, great nephew, Nick Sullivan of Winston Salem, NC and great great niece, Brooklyn Shute of Morehead City, NC. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 1:30 until 2:15 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC 28112 followed by the memorial service at 2:30 PM in the Gordon Funeral Chapel.
