Opal Lemuel (Helms) Faulk

Mrs. Opal Lemuel Helms Faulk, 101, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Carillon Assisted Living. She was born July 29, 1914, in Union County, to the late Lemuel Sylvester and Isadora Pigg Helms. Mrs. Faulk is survived by her son, Oscar W. “Woody” Faulk, and wife, Libby, of Matthews; seven grandchildren, B.J. McCoy, Wes Faulk, John Faulk, Bill Austin, Bonnie Anderson, Steve Austin, and Becky Corbin; thirteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Woodrow Faulk, Sr.; daughter, Dora Ellen Faulk Austin; and grandson, John Austin. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2015, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 109 Morrow Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 to 10:45 AM, prior to the service, at the church.
