Panagiotis "Pete" Polyzos, passed away peacefully July 6, 2022 in Monroe, North Carolina. He was born February 8, 1954 in Piraeus, Greece to Nikoloas and Polutime (Pauline) Polyzos. Pete was a devoted husband to Ginia Moodie Polyzos with whom he shared his love of Greek culture and traditions. Funeral service for Pete will be 2:00 PM Saturday, July 9, 2022 at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church 5108 Kuykendall Road Charlotte, NC 28270 with Father Nektarios Karantonis officiating with burial to follow with military honors in the Evergreen City Cemetery. Pete came with his family to the United States and after living in Kansas City eventually settled in their beloved Florida. After two tours in Vietnam with the Navy and working as a merchant marine, Pete found his calling in the field of medicine. Upon receiving his Physician Assistant degree, he and his family settled in Charlotte and later Monroe, North Carolina as Pete worked in the Emergency Department. He retired from medicine after servicing the Monroe community for many years as a family medicine physician's assistant. In his spare time and in retirement years, Pete enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, golf, Greek cooking and visiting with friends and cousins in his mother's village of Trachila, Greece as well as, their home in Pallini, outside of Athens. Pete is preceded in death by his wife and his parents. He is survived by one son, Nick Polyzos of Charlotte, as well as, a host of friends and cousins in North Carolina and in Greece.
