Patty (Pinkston) Norwood

Gloria Pinkston “Patty” Norwood, 83, passed away October 5, 2016. She was born March 5, 1933 in Anson County, NC daughter of the late Frank Lillian Odom Pinkston. She is also preceded in death by her husband Bill R. Norwood, a brother Richard Pinkston, a sister Zerlina Ratliff, a grandson Alex Norwood, and a great grandson Ben Norwood. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 8, 2016 in Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Patty began working at The Oasis from age of 15. She purchased the business from Clyde Helms in 1993, and continued to work there until her retirement in 2005. Patty is survived by three sons, Bill F. Norwood, wife Becky of Monroe; Danny Norwood, wife Debi of Ocean Isle; Scotty Norwood, wife Karen, of Monroe; a brother Bobby Pinkston, wife Peggy of Wadesboro; seven grandchildren: Dan Norwood, wife Treena; Drew Norwood, wife Meredith; Stephanie Mills, husband Daniel; Natalie Norwood, Jon Norwood, Joshua Norwood, and Jared Norwood, two step grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, October 7, 2016 at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
