Paul Robert Barnes, Sr., 71, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014. He was born in Mahoning, Ohio on September 9, 1942 son of the late Kenneth Noel and Margaret Orinin Barnes. Mr. Barnes was a US Navy veteran. ‘Paul Barnes was a life long Eagle Scout who demonstrated the Scout Law both in and out of uniform. Even in his elder years, he continued to donate his time and love to programs that benefitted his community and the people around him. Paul spent many years as a volunteer scout leader helping guide local scouting through difficult times; volunteered with the Red Cross Disaster Recovery team and taught CPR and other lifesaving classes. Paul was a loving husband of 50 years, father of 3 and grandfather of 9 who would quietly put his families needs before his own. His love, loyalty and character will live with us for the rest of our lives.’ The family will receive friends Monday, February 3, 2014 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Life Church, 1721 N. Charlotte Ave., Monroe, NC 28110.
