Paul Hayden Mangum, 75, passed away Friday, August 3, 2012. He was born on November 20, 1936 in Union County, son of the late Clarence W. and Ester Walden Mangum. He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Helms, and a grandson Stephen Alan Jones. Mr. Mangum worked with the Monroe City Fire Department and later retired as Captain from the Monroe City Police Department. Funeral service will held at 2:00PM Monday, August 6, 2012 in Hillcrest Baptist Church with burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Mr. Mangum is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Janet Austin Mangum; daughters, Sandra Mangum Jones and husband Gary of Greenville, NC, Tamara Mangum Little and husband Ronald of Monroe, Trisha Mangum Carnes and husband Douglas of Monroe and Paula Mangum Mullis and husband Michael of Marshville; brothers, Clarence W. Mangum of Rock Hill, SC and James Carroll Mangum of Marshville; sisters, Irene Mangum Robinson and Loretta Mangum Chaney of Monroe, and Linda Mangum Carraway of Waxhaw; grandchildren, Chris, Caroline and Emily Jones, Kelly and Maddy Little, Derrick Carnes and wife Shea, Kristen Carnes Blount and husband Gary, Morgan and Tucker Mullis; great-grandchildren, Mason Carnes, Bryleigh Blount and soon to be Samuel Paul Carnes. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
