Peggie Rorie Graham

September 26, 1953 — April 27, 2025

Peggie Rorie Graham, 71, of Monroe, NC passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 27, 2025. She was born September 26, 1953, to the late Ralph Rorie and Jane Elizabeth (Janie) Carnes Rorie.

The family will receive friends Wednesday April 30, 2025, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Jim and Peggie’s home.

After graduating from Forest Hills High School, Peggie attended Wingate University and worked in the insurance industry for 20 years before following her true calling into nursing. That career became the perfect fit for her natural ability to be a nurturing and comforting caregiver. She retired as director of the cardiac rehabilitation unit at Atrium Health Union.

In her personal life, Peggie drew a particular happiness from the company of family and lifelong friends and cherished any opportunity to be surrounded by those she loved. She especially loved holidays, from Easter to July 4th to Christmas and any other social occasion to be in the middle of happy and lively company. In the summer months, she could often be found sitting on the beach, watching her grandchildren play in the sand or flipping through the pages of a great book.

A little further from home, Peggie loved exploring the world with her favorite travel partner and loving husband of 43 years, Jim Graham. From Hong Kong to Ireland to Mediterranean cruises, her trips gave her a chance to experience new cultures and feed her adventurous spirit. She parasailed from Mexican beaches, whipped a scooter through the streets of Key West and bungee jumped above New Zealand river gorges, all while faithfully gathering souvenirs and postcards for family and friends back home.

Peggie’s greatest treasures, however, were her cherished relationships with her friends and family. Those speaking with her could quickly tell she genuinely loved and cared for those around her, and that gift helped her maintain many friendships all the way back to her elementary school days. She loved a great concert, a hearty joke and so many other of life’s simple pleasures when surrounded by the company of those she loved.

Peggie is survived by her loving husband, James Harry Graham, daughter Jennifer Dockery (Keith), son Andrew Graham (Pon), grandchildren Tyler Dockery, Walker Dockery, Levi Graham and Emma Graham, and sisters Kay Evans, Melody Baucom (Jimmy) and Penny Deese as well as a close-knit extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggie’s memory to Beulah Presbyterian Church, 8305 Landsford Road, Monroe, NC 28112.
