Peggy Ann Gast passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the age of 89. She was born on February 14, 1937, daughter to the late Maurice Nelson and Mary Boriska. Peggy grew up on the family farm in Ravenna, Ohio, spent her married years in Utica and Southfield, Michigan, and retired in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Peggy had an incredible artistic talent that included oil painting, wood crafts, sewing clothes, making curtains, crocheting, quilting, and reupholstering furniture. She loved working in her beautiful flower garden and was an amazing cook and baker. Family and friends looked forward to receiving her homemade chocolates every year at Christmas. Peggy’s nurturing spirit, compassion, and witty sense of humor will be treasured and deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Peggy is preceded in death by her husband Richard A. Gast and survived by her daughter Linda Shoop (Bill), son David Gast (Caren), and daughter Elaine Holeman (David), her sisters Patti May and Phyllis Bakos, her grandchildren Betsy Gast, Emily Finta, Nelson Gast (Eun Young), Alexandra Bates (Dalton), Mallory Finta, Aspen Holeman, and R. Mason Holeman, and her great granddaughter Alyssa Bates.

A private family graveside service will be held at Shepherd Memorial Park in Hendersonville, NC at a future date.
