Peggy Joyce (Purser) Moyer

Peggy Purser Moyer, 62, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Peggy was born in Union County on July 4, 1955 to Troy Lee Purser, Jr. and Joyce Horne Purser. Visitation will be at Gordon Funeral Services, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC., on Friday June 22 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 23, at 10:00 AM at New Hope Baptist Church, 5928 New Salem Road Marshville, NC.Burial will follow in church cemetery. She is survived by her parents Troy and Joyce Purser, her sister Troyanne Funderburk, her husband Tom Moyer, her children Matthew Moyer and his wife Sherry, Wesley Moyer and his wife Lauren and four grandchildren Ryan, Gracie, Hope and Isaac. She is pre-deceased by her brother Scott Lee Purser. Peggy graduated from Piedmont High School in 1973 and Kings College in 1974 with an associate’s degree in accounting and is retired from Moyer, Smith Roller, P.A. where she was an accounting supervisor. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, quilting and planting flowers. Peggy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and daughter who brought out the best in everyone. She was always willing to volunteer and as a teenager began playing the piano during church services at New Hope Baptist Church. As her children grew and went off to college she invested her time and energy in her extended family and grandchildren. She was involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations serving as the youth leader at New Hope Baptist Church, an officer in Monroe Kiwanis Club and helped the Monroe Shag Club Foundation raise more than 0,000 for local charities. No matter what she did she did it to the best of her ability and took great joy in seeing others benefit from her efforts.
