Peggy Joyce Simpson

Dateline: Monroe, NC Peggy Joyce Simpson, 81, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2011, after a brief stay in Hospice of Union County, with her family by her side. She was born on August 25, 1930 in Monroe, daughter of the late Hoyle Jefferson and Myrtle Marylee Love Simpson. Peggy began working at the age of seventeen for Johnston Mills, dedicated employee for 47 years at this company until her retirement in 1993. She was known for her honesty, integrity and hard work. Peggy enjoyed cooking and shopping, especially sharing her delicious home cooking with neighbors, friends and family. She attended West Monroe Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27, 2011 from 1:00 until 1:45 PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Lakeland Memorial Park. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Neal Simpson of Carrollton, GA and three nephews, Joey Patrick Simpson of Carrollton, GA, Walter Lee Medlin, Jr. of Monroe, NC and Hoyle Jefferson Simpson, II of Carrollton, GA. Peggy is survived by her siblings, Allen Jefferson Simpson (Maria), Helen S. Price (Joe Neil), Olin J. Simpson (Linda), Violet S. Medlin (Walter), Roger L. Simpson (Sue) all of Monroe, NC, her sister-in-law, Melba S. Simpson of Carrollton, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
