Peggy Jane Outen Speir

Peggy Outen Speir, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2022 beside her three sons and her dear sister, Judy Johnson, and nephew Eric Purser. She was born in Union County, NC on March 18, 1937, daughter of the late Edmond and Betty Outen. She was preceded in death by her husband Elder Roy E. Speir in November 2015.
Peggy was truly quad-vocational as she served as a pastor’s wife in the ministry for over 40 years, taught elementary school for over 30 years, was lead volunteer for every organization affiliated with her children for over 20 years and was the world’s greatest mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 13, 2022, at 2:00PM at High Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 2225 Concord Ave, Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Elder Chris Broadway and followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC.
Peggy Speir is survived by her sons, Kenneth Speir (Michelle) of Newnan, GA, Timothy Speir (Pam) of Monroe and Mark Speir (Paige) of Boone, NC; grandchildren, Ashleigh Kimmel (Joel), Lindsay Sawyer (Justin), Zeb Speir (Lauren), Jackson, Sarah, Zack and Alyssa Speir; great-grandchildren Holland, Campbell and Ellis Kimmel, Brighton and Janie Sawyer: a sister, Judy Johnson, a brother Ronnie Outen of Unionville, NC, and many nieces & nephews.
