Philip “Alan” Mitchell, 55, of Monroe, NC died early Monday afternoon, April 18, 2022 after an extended illness.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Union County on April 23, 1966, and was the son of Brenda Tucker Mitchell and the late Timothy Edward Mitchell, Sr.
Mr. Mitchell was an assistant baseball coach for a number of years at Piedmont High School and head coach of the Union County American Legion Baseball team for fifteen years. He was a lifelong area resident and enjoyed hunting, fishing and coaching. He also loved to work on trucks, but he was best known for his story telling.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving mother, Brenda Tucker Mitchell of Indian Trail, NC; his brother, Timothy E. Mitchell, Jr. of Monroe and his close nephew, Bryan Mitchell and wife Courtnie of Marshville, NC.
Funeral services to celebrate Mr. Mitchell will be 11:00 AM, Friday, April 22, 2022 at High Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 2225 Concord Avenue, Monroe, NC, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends and relatives Thursday, April 21, 2022 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in Gordon Funeral Service, 1904 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.
