It is with great sadness that the family of Phillip Wayne Smith announces his passing after years of stubbornness caught up with him on November 22, 2018, at the age of 57. Phil was born on June 9, 1961 and raised in Monroe, NC, where he attended Monroe High and eventually worked for the City of Monroe and Union County. Phil loved his grandchildren, cracking jokes and riding his motorcycle. Phil is survived by his Mother, Mary Jo Smith, his son Chatham Smith and his wife Sylvia Smith, his daughters Tara Smith and Kayla Efrid, and his grandchildren Ashton, Baylee, Ethan, Eve, Jackson, Nolan, Maddox, Delaney, and Greylynn and his brother Freddy Smith and his wife Dale Smith of Monroe. He was predeceased by his father Fred Smith, Jr. Funeral services will be held 6:30PM Monday, November 26, 2018 in the Gordon Funeral Chapel, 1904 Lancaster Ave. Monroe, NC 28112.
