Phyllis Mangum Phifer, 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2021. She is the daughter of the late Jessie Vatchel Mangum and Dezzie Threatt Mangum. Phyllis is preceded in death by siblings, Carolyn Phifer, Jimmy Mangum, Benny Mangum all of Monroe and Vivian Manshack of Mineral Springs. Funeral services for Phyllis will be 12:00PM, Thursday, October 21, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. During these times of limiting the numbers for social gatherings, the Phifer family respects your concerns of avoiding crowds, so they welcome you to visit Gordon Funeral Service Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 1:00PM until 7:00PM to pay your respects to avoid crowds. The Phifer family will not be present during this time. Phyllis was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail for many years. She was a devoted servant of the Lord and this was apparent in every aspect of her life. She was a well-known and well-loved hairdresser for nearly 60 years. She touched many lives and formed many friendships and bonds with her customers who will greatly miss her. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She loved them with an unconditional love and always taught them to put Jesus first in their lives. She was the best “Nannie” to her four Baby Angels. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Ginger Counts, husband Michael Counts of Monroe, NC, her daughter Tammy Purser, husband Travis Purser of Monroe, NC, her four grandchildren, Marissa Counts, Dillan Counts, Makenzi Purser and Bayden Purser, her four Baby Angels. She is also survived by one sister, Nancy Adams of Lancaster, SC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends that have done so much for her and her family.
